Uganda’s KCB KOBs will cross the border into Kenya on October 3 for a unique East African rugby showdown against KCB Rugby at KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka, at 3pm.
The fixture brings together two clubs carrying the same KCB name but representing different rugby traditions, with the return leg scheduled for October 24 at Kampala Grounds, formerly Legends Ground.
For KCB KOBs, the trip comes after a morale-boosting victory in the Uganda Rugby 7s Series. The club recently ended a two-year wait for a series stop title after recovering from a 19-5 halftime deficit to beat Rams RFC 22-19 in the Kyabazinga 7s final.
That comeback will give the Ugandan side confidence as it prepares for the physical demands of Kenyan rugby.
KCB KOBs, founded in 1963, are among Uganda’s most successful rugby clubs, having won 13 Premiership titles. Their regional assignment also comes against the backdrop of renewed cross-border rugby competition, including the return of the Enterprise Cup, which has brought Ugandan and Kenyan clubs together.
For KCB Bank Uganda, the fixture builds on a partnership with KOBs that began in 2023 when the bank acquired naming rights, giving the club its KCB KOBs identity.
The partnership was strengthened in 2025 when KCB Bank Uganda increased its support to Shs195 million, including funding for a new playing kit and support for club operations.
Beyond the match, the fixture gives KCB KOBs an opportunity to expose its players to a different level of competition while taking Ugandan rugby onto a regional stage.
The return leg in Kampala will give local supporters another opportunity to watch the two KCB-backed sides meet.
