Stephen Kaboyo, Chairman of the Board of Directors at TotalEnergies Marketing Uganda, announced on Nov. 6 the launch of the country’s first public electric charging station at the Wampewo Service Station in Kampala, in partnership with Green Hub, marking a significant milestone in Uganda’s energy transition.

The company’s initiative aligns with Uganda’s 2023 Energy Transition Plan, which maps a path toward sustainable energy through renewable resources, expanded energy access, and low-carbon solutions for a just and equitable transition.

Demonstrating TotalEnergies’ commitment to advancing clean energy and carbon neutrality by 2050, the Wampewo station now offers Uganda’s first electric bike charging point within the TotalEnergies network, with plans for additional charging points across the country to support the growing e-bike market.

Green Hub, which empowers women in e-mobility, collaborates with TotalEnergies alongside partners like MTN, Centenary Bank, TVS, Women Rising for Africa, the Danish Embassy, and the Government of Uganda.

TotalEnergies has donated $5,000 to help female riders acquire e-bikes and provided 400 helmets to promote rider safety, underscoring its commitment to accessible, cleaner energy solutions.
