 Roofings, partners to plant 2M trees at Kampala Industrial Business Park   

Hon. Anite plants a tree as part of the campaign launch activities on May 31

On May 31, Roofings Group announced its initiative to plant 2,000,000 trees in Kampala Industrial Business Park, Namanve.

In collaboration with the Uganda Investment Authority, the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, and the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), this initiative aims to mitigate the environmental impact of the industries in the business park. The launch event was held at Roofings Rolling Mills in Namanve.

Robert Mukiza, Director General of the Uganda Investment Authority, stated, “We are honored to witness sustainable industrialization in Kampala Industrial Business Park with Roofings as the pioneer.”

NEMA Executive Director, Barirega Akankwasah, expressed, “NEMA has been anticipating this day to see the initiative come to fruition and pledges total support to make it a reality.”

Sikander Lalani, Chairman of Roofings Group, remarked, “Roofings took a bold step to establish itself in the park 20 years ago. As we launch this tree planting initiative, Roofings is committed to the regreening agenda, distributing free tree seedlings under the Forever Forestry Initiative.”

Evelyn Anite, Minister of State for Investment, commented, “Such initiatives foster a culture of corporate responsibility.”
