NCBA Bank, in partnership with the Uganda Golf Club, has launched the 2024 NCBA Golf Series to promote golf and inspire greatness within Uganda’s golfing community.

The bank also highlighted its comprehensive sustainability initiative to combat climate change and preserve Uganda’s natural ecosystems.

The NCBA Golf Series, spanning golf clubs in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, will strengthen its position as East Africa’s premier golfing event.

This year, the series will be held for the first time at Jinja Club, in addition to the Uganda Golf Club and Entebbe Club, as announced by executives on June 8 in Kampala.

Mark Muyobo, NCBA Bank’s Chief Executive, emphasized their commitment to supporting golf and helping customers achieve financial goals through exceptional financial services.

He encouraged participants to pursue greatness throughout the series.

The tournament’s opening coincided with World Environment Day celebrations, aligning with NCBA’s dedication to sustainability and responsible corporate citizenship.

Through the “Change the Story” initiative, NCBA aims to minimize its climate impact and has launched a tree-planting program.

As part of this effort, NCBA Bank planted 200 trees at the Uganda Golf Course, contributing to their goal of planting 33 hectares of trees in line with the government’s National Development Plan (NDP) III to restore 24% of Uganda’s forest cover by 2040.

Muyobo reiterated NCBA’s commitment to reducing direct emissions by over 50% by 2030 through various initiatives and system improvements.

He emphasized that tree planting is crucial for combating climate change and preserving natural ecosystems, providing benefits such as carbon sequestration, employee engagement, and community empowerment.
