FINCA Uganda, one of the leading microfinance institution in the country, has announced Janet Mudoola as its new brand ambassador, aiming to enhance the reach of its financial and non-financial services.
Mudoola, who was one of the first clients served by FINCA Uganda in Iganga back in 1992, has signed a two-year contract to promote the FINCA brand and inspire other women towards financial success.
At the unveiling event held in Kampala on August 13, Mudoola shared her appreciation for the unparalleled support she has received from FINCA over the past 34 years. “FINCA believed in our dreams and recognized our potential as women to achieve financial growth. I am proud to have grown my business and educated my children with FINCA’s partnership,” she said.
Mudoola was the inaugural executive of Twegate Kimanto, the first group formed in 1992, which has since set the standard for village banking in Uganda and beyond. FINCA Uganda is part of a global network of microfinance institutions under FINCA Impact Finance.
Jeff Flowers, the Chief Executive Officer of FINCA Impact Finance, expressed his gratitude to Janet and optimism about FINCA Uganda’s mission to alleviate poverty in the country. “Janet’s story demonstrates that with the right opportunities and resources, women can transform their lives and communities,” Flowers said.
In her role as brand ambassador, Mudoola will travel across Uganda to share her story, helping other women realize their potential and the resources available to them. FINCA plans to feature her story in its publications and other outreach materials.
This move comes as FINCA extends its services beyond Ugandan nationals to refugees, aiming to enhance their resilience and contributions to the Ugandan economy.
Olive Lumonya, FINCA Uganda Board Chairperson, emphasized the significance of ambassadors in enabling women to access financial services. “Janet’s story will resonate with thousands of women, inspiring them to improve their lives. When women achieve financial success, their families and communities benefit immensely,” Lumonya said.
Since its founding in 1984, FINCA has focused on empowering women to achieve financial independence and secure prosperous futures for themselves and their families. The organization has long provided tailored financial products and financial literacy training. In Uganda alone, FINCA has supported over 530,000 individuals and their families, with a customer base of 150,000, of which 45.5% are women.
