Airtel Money and Letshego Uganda have expanded Uganda’s credit portfolio with the launch of LetsGo Pesa, a mobile loan service aimed at providing quick and convenient financial solutions to Ugandans.

The announcement was made today (Sept. 12).

This innovative service is a result of a partnership between Airtel Money, one of Uganda’s leading mobile money providers, and GnuGrid, a credit-scoring engine. By utilizing GnuGrid’s growing credit-scoring system, the collaboration aims to lower risks and make borrowing more affordable for individuals with good credit behavior.

LetsGo Pesa is an automated short-term mobile loan service, available exclusively to individual Airtel Money customers.

It is designed to help users address urgent financial needs without the complexities typically associated with traditional loan processes.

Whether it’s an emergency medical expense, an unexpected repair, or a temporary cash shortfall, LetsGo Pesa offers an instant, affordable solution that is easily accessible.

Giles Aijukwe, CEO of Letshego Uganda, commented: “At Letshego, our mission is to improve lives through inclusive financial solutions. With LetsGo Pesa, we are leveraging technology to bring financial relief directly to the people, enabling them to access funds quickly, conveniently, and safely—without the need for collateral or lengthy approval processes. This partnership with Airtel Money and GnuGrid is a major step toward expanding financial inclusion in Uganda. Our vision is to create a world where financial services are accessible to all, regardless of their location or financial status. LetsGo Pesa is both innovative and deeply rooted in the needs of our customers.”

Japheth Aritho, Managing Director of Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda Limited, added: “We are committed to building partnerships that promote equitable access to digital financial services. Letshego Uganda has joined us at the perfect time, as we work to foster good credit behavior that rewards borrowers based on their credit scores. We welcome all partners on this journey to extend credit beyond the traditional boundaries. LetsGo Pesa is more than just a loan service; it represents a step forward in empowering Ugandans financially.”

LetsGo Pesa is designed to be user-friendly and accessible to all Airtel Money customers.

Key features include flexible loan amounts ranging from Shs20,000 to Shs700,000, making it suitable for various financial needs. Borrowers have up to 30 days to repay the loan in a single lump sum (bullet repayment), simplifying the repayment process.

To access LetsGo Pesa, customers can dial *185# on their Airtel line, select the LetsGo Pesa option, and follow the prompts to apply.

Eligible customers must have been using their Airtel SIM (for voice, data, and Airtel Money services) for at least 12 months, maintain an active mobile money account with a good transaction history, and possess a clean credit record.
