The project is expected to support 1, 000 individuals

As part of its unwavering commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment, MTN Uganda, under the auspices of the MTN Changemakers Initiative, proudly unveiled its latest endeavor – the construction of a borehole in Kyaka I, Kyaka I Kikuta village, Kyegegwa District, on March 22.

This vital project aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6, aiming to ensure universal access to safe and clean water.

In a generous collaboration combining both resources and manpower, MTN Uganda, through the MTN Foundation, contributed construction materials valued at Shs13million, executives said.

Additionally, MTN staff actively participated in the borehole’s construction, demonstrating the company’s hands-on approach to community development.

This initiative is expected to significantly impact over 1,000 individuals in Kyaka II, providing reliable access to clean water for more than two decades.

This initiative represents a critical stride in addressing the pressing issue of water scarcity within the region and aligns with MTN’s Ambition 2025 strategy.

The strategy emphasises leveraging technology and promoting collaborative efforts to empower communities and stimulate economic growth across Uganda according to Abel Mwesigye, the Western Region Business Manager for MTN Uganda.
